Our commitment to corporate social responsibility includes charitable sponsorship and philanthropic programs while ensuring that our jewelry is crafted—and our precious materials procured—in a responsible manner. We are a certified member of the Responsible Jewelry Council (“RJC”) and comply with the Kimberley Process, governing the purchase of precious gemstones.

As a member of the RJC, we are independently audited against the Responsible Jewelry Code of Practices - an international standard on responsible business practices for diamonds, gold and platinum group metals. The Code of Practices addresses human rights, employment and labor standards, environmental impact, mining practices, product disclosure, and other relevant topics in the jewelry supply chain. We require all employees who work on supply chain management to understand the RJC Code of Practices.

Gemstone Stone Sourcing

At Harry Winston, we take the sourcing of our diamonds and gemstones very seriously. We perform our due diligence prior to purchasing, to ensure the gemstones used in the manufacturing of our jewelry collections are obtained responsibly, ethically, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Harry Winston only sell or purchase diamonds that are fully compliant with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.

Harry Winston has not sourced directly from Myanmar, but rather from trusted and verified suppliers, who confirmed through written assurance that their rubies and jadeite, of Burmese origin, were imported during a period of time when there were no international sanctions. The Company also took additional measures to verify the importation dates and country of origin documentation for all of its Burmese gemstones were in compliance with current and prior international sanctions.

In its ongoing commitment to responsible and ethical sourcing, the House of Harry Winston will no longer source gemstones from its suppliers that have Burmese origins, regardless of their importation dates.

Supplier Code of Conduct

Harry Winston, Inc.'s commitment to identifying, preventing, and mitigating modern slavery, human trafficking and forced labor is also reflected in our Supplier Code of Conduct. The Supplier Code of Conduct is based on internationally recognized human rights, as set out in the United Nations' International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and sets out general principles and requirements that are applicable to all suppliers regarding Labour and Human Rights, Environmental Protection, Responsible Supply Chain and Ethics. The Supplier Code of Conduct is distributed to all of our supply chain partners and compliance with the requirements is mandatory. It is applicable to Harry Winston and its companies' facilities, as well as to all Harry Winston suppliers who bear the responsibility for ensuring compliance across their own supply chain. The Supplier Code of Conduct is updated regularly to ensure that Harry Winston is consistently communicating requirements and methods to respond to specific challenges.

California Transparency in Supply Chains Act

Harry Winston, Inc. condemns modern slavery and human trafficking as violations of fundamental human rights. We are committed to both ethical and responsible conduct in all of our business operations. In accordance with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, we have the following measures in place to prevent the risk of slavery and human trafficking within our supply chains:

  • RJC provides a third-party verification of Harry Winston's supply chain that Harry Winston adheres to all of the standards in the RJC Code of Practices, which include the issues of human trafficking and slavery;
  • All Harry Winston suppliers must certify that they maintain ethical business practices, and comply with applicable laws and regulations, including protecting basic human rights wherever they operate;
  • We direct our supplier's company management to ensure that their employees are accountable for guarding against such risks; disciplinary action, up to and including termination is taken with suppliers who have demonstrated egregious or uncorrected material violations; and
  • Employees are trained to investigate violations of the RJC Code of Practices, which include the issues of slavery and human trafficking.

Harry Winston Inc. has published a statement of compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act through our parent company, The Swatch Group Ltd.
